INTRODUCTION
Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre (IVAC) is arguably the best health resort in India, based on one singular criterion: the quality of physical treatments. This is the main reason to go to IVAC. At most health resorts, the therapies are usually conducted by one therapist or two therapists maximum. However, at IVAC, some treatments have as many as five or six therapists working on you simultaneously. Therefore, the treatments are thorough and deeply satisfying. A one hour treatment at IVAC is more intensive than a two hour treatment at most other resorts. If you value the quality and effectiveness of treatment above all else, then this resort is for you.

You will love

  • Ayurvedic treatments at IVAC Are far superior compared to similar resorts.
  • Therapists are very well trained and very thorough.
  • Most Ayurvedic treatments involve a minimum two therapists. Some treatments have four or five therapists working on you at the same time.
  • Food variety, quality and quantity are more than sufficient and not restrictive or regimental.
  • The  team at IVAC resort is receptive to feedback.
  • Chai and coffee are served on request.
  • Private yoga at this resort is excellent.
  • A tantalizing sweet dish is served daily with lunch.
  • The resort has a very peaceful vibe.
  • The hills and residential area that surrounds IVAC are safe and conducive to long walks.
  • There is a clay tennis court onsite.
  • A live cooking counter operates during all three meals.
  • Piping hot dosas are served every morning.
  • Piping hot rotis are served with lunch and dinner.

You should know

  • IVAC is a pure vegetarian resort with Ayurvedic cuisine.
  • There are no continental options apart from bread and butter in the morning at breakfast.
  • Eggs are not served.
  • Consumption of meat and alcohol are prohibited.
  • Over the years, IVAC has become more conservative and less aggressive at treating serious health conditions. So results may take longer.
  • Group yoga at this resort receives mixed reviews. Some people like it and some people don't. The good news is that private yoga is reasonably price at IVAC.
  • The drive from Bangalore to Mysore is at least 3.5 hours. This trek, while convenient, is worth it when one considers the quality of treatments at IVAC which are unparalleled.
  • IVAC does not restrict guests from going sightseeing or shopping in Mysore, although self-control and restraint are highly recommended during panchakarma, so as not to compromise your treatments or risk eating the wrong food outside the resort.

Yoga at Indus Valley

GROUP YOGA
Group yoga sessions are typically conducted four times per day: 7:30 am, 10:30 am, 11:30 am, and 4:30 pm. Each session lasts for 60 minutes. Participation in yoga is recommended, but not mandatory. The group classes typically cater to beginners. For intermediate or advanced yoga, private yoga sessions are recommended.
PRIVATE YOGA
Private yoga at IVAC is excellent. It is particularly recommend for people who want to develop a personalized yoga practice and a long-term commitment to yoga, even after returning home. It is also highly advisable for people who wish to sustain the benefits of Ayurvedic treatment. For instance, if your main purpose for coming to IVAC is to relieve or overcome back pain, you are more likely to achieve and sustain that result by practicing yoga frequently, not only during your stay at IVAC but also, and more importantly, after you return home.
YOGA NIDRA
The late morning yoga sessions are typically conduction as "Yoga Nidra" sessions, that is, yoga for relaxation, sleep, and stress relief. These sessions include meditation, pranayama, guided visualization, and mantra yoga. The mantras are introduced to activate specific chakras or energy pathways in the body. Yoga Nidra does not require one to be fit or flexible or highly active. Yoga Nidra is offered primarily as a path to induce relaxation and mental quietude. It is very common during Yoga Nidra sessions for practitioners to fall asleep, but that is not the purpose or objective. Stress relief is the primary objective.

There is also a train from Bangalore to Mysore Junction, but the overall journey is likely to take longer than just driving. From BLR, you can hire an Uber, Ola or private taxi.
