Arnaud Hos Devanand

Yoga Teacher | Ayurvedic Therapist | Naturopath

My Yoga Journey
with Arnaud Hos Devanand

Published 12 May 2020
Arnaud Hos Devanand is a naturopath, Ayurvedic therapist and a yoga teacher, based in Madrid, Spain. In this interview, he shares his yoga journey and motivation for practicing yoga.

What does yoga mean to you?

Yoga 🧘‍♂️is the union of body, mind and spirituality. It's another science of life, which, together with Ayurveda, provides a better way of understanding yourself.

When did you first start practicing yoga and why?

I first started practicing yoga ten years ago, when I decided to change my life after experiencing a great disease in my body and soul. Yoga and Ayurveda helped me.

After experiencing a serious illness in my life, I was looking for answers about the meaning of life, the purpose of my life, why I am here, and how I can change my life. That's when I discovered Ayurveda and yoga. They completely changed my life, my vision about health, and my understanding of the importance of routines and self-care. After studying Ayurveda and yoga and being transformed, I wanted to share my knowledge with other people.

Were you ever resistant to learn yoga?

Yoga changed my perception of life to see my life with more motivation and more spirituality.

How has yoga impacted your life?

Because I understand that yoga is an eternal self-knowledge and for my life it a more important this point of view

Why should someone practice yoga?

Normally, I think someone should practice yoga to connect with himself, release stress, and calm the mind.

What are your favourite asanas and why?

Warrior because it gives me a lot of force.

Sirsana (headstand) for the complete sensation of blood circulation and to relax myself.

Savasana (corpse pose) for feeling a real connection to myself.

Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) to connect with throat chakra for better communication.

I love every asana and pranayama (breathing techniques) because each one teaches you something.

Is there anything that you would like to add?

Thank you. I wish everyone and everybody peace and good practice.

For me, yoga it a not only asanas. It is a great and complete work about yourself and a great philosophy of life.

It's important to practice every part of the yoga sutras of Pantanjali, in order to connect with the essence of yoga.
Arnaud's yoga journey teaches us that yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences that work together to transform the body, mind and soul and to heal underlying illnesses. Their impact can be so great that they can literally compel someone to change careers and pursue an entirely different life path and trajectory. Namaste!
