Context
Ayurooms is currently collaborating with yoga teachers around the world to conduct free, online yoga classes via Instagram Live Stories. The main objective of this collaboration is to spread the physical and psychological benefits of yoga at a time when people are self-quarantining and experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety due to COVID-19. A secondary objective is to help yoga teachers grow their following and increase traffic to their website and/or social media profile(s).
Process
If you have been invited to collaborate with Ayurooms on staging an online yoga class, the first step is to complete the My Yoga Journey questionnaire, so that we can develop appropriate visual and written content to promote your session. Once we have received your responses, we will:
1. Publish your responses on our Yoga Blog
2. Develop posters for social media, primarily our Instagram page
3. Setup an "event" on our Facebook events page
As and when the above activities are performed, the content and links will be shared with you.

Going Live with Ayurooms
In order to maximize traffic to your online yoga class with Ayurooms, the following steps are recommended:
1. Exactly 30 or 60 minutes prior to your scheduled online class, put out a teaser. That is, go "live" on Instagram (and other social media channels that you use) and announce to your followers that you will be conducting an online yoga class starting in XX minutes or at the specific time, and encourage them to join you.
2. At the scheduled time, go live on Instagram from your personal profile.
3. Shortly after you go live, Ayurooms will join your live and "request to join the conversation". Once you see our request to join the conversation, please accept it. Our founder, Aly Alidina, will join the conversation by video and be your live student.

Structure of the class
Keep in mind that Instagram only allows any given user to be live for a maximum duration of one hour. After 60 minutes, Instagram will automatically end the session and then you will need to restart the session. Given the time constraint, The following general structure is recommended for your live class:
3 to 5 minutes: Aly will lead the conversation by asking you to introduce yourself and how you go into yoga. He then may ask you one or two questions related to your yoga journey, as covered in your blog.
30 to 45 minutes: After the introduction, you will lead the audience through whatever sequence of breathing exercises, asanas, mantras and/or other practices that you had planned. Keep an eye on the time and remember to speak loudly if you are not using a wireless headset. It is strongly recommended and advisable to use a wireless headset or air pods for maximum clarity of audio.
5 to 10 minutes: At the end of your session, we will again have a brief Q&A, inviting the audience to submit questions in the comments. In the absence of comments from the audience, Aly will ask you questions.

Setting up
Here are some tips and suggestions for setting up your phone and mat:
1. Make sure that your phone has a charge of at least 70%, prior to the class.
2. Setup your phone on a tripod if you have one, so that you can adjust the height and angle of your video as necessary.
3. The phone should be tall (portrait) rather than wide (landscape), as viewers are most likely to see your story in that way.
4. Use a wireless headset if you have one. Test the audio before the start of the class.
5. Keep in mind that once you are live with Ayurooms and two people are in the conversation, you may have to adjust the placement of your phone or the angle of the phone, so that viewers can see you fully.
6. Position your mat in such that you are not too far away from the phone. If you are too far from the phone, viewers will have difficulty seeing you, especially considering that the view will be reduced to half the screen because two people are in the conversation.
